Junior Cafe Scientifique
September 17, 2016 @ 09:30 - 11:00
FreeLiviu Movileanu, PhD, professor of physics in the Department of Physics at Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences, will lead a discussion aimed at middle school students about bionanotechnology, a rapidly evolving and unifying science that encompasses several sciences, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the MOST, 500 S. Franklin St., Syracuse.
“Many noteworthy breakthroughs in the last two decades in physics, chemistry, biology, and materials science have permitted obtaining an immense amount of information on molecular structure and function of biomolecules,” Movileanu said. “With the inspiration of so many examples from nature, we are now poised to make use of it for atomic- and molecular-level engineering.”
Junior Café Scientifique is sponsored by the Technology Alliance of Central New York (TACNY), and usually held on the third Saturday of the month during the school year at the MOST. A light breakfast is provided. Participants must be accompanied by an adult and both can explore the museum at no cost at the program’s conclusion. The event is free, but TACNY asks that you RSVP to jrcafe@tacny.org.
